Mirrorring, Foreign Body

(Kranky, 2012)

It's like a weird dream in several seemingly unrelated scenes that however, have a common thread that doesn't become conscious. "Fell Sound" is the first scene: you fleet peacefully in a luminous haze in which peace and sadness merge in the languid reverberations of a beautiful and atmospheric melody that is etched in your memory at once, or maybe you remember it from an earlier dream. After the nakedness of "Silent From Above", dream folk comes back in "Cliffs", an enigmatic song with ambient interludes and a guitar phrasing that goes along with you on a difficult to define but beautiful journey. The dream fades away in depths of melancholy through "Drowning the Call" and "Mine", until the dark isolation of "Mirror of Our Sleeping", simple but effective. In sum, a bittersweet dream of undeniable brilliance and beauty, while almost painful in its sleepy sadness.
